Project Life – June 2019

Today I’m sharing my Project Life pages for June! There were lots of stories to tell from this month, both big and small, and I really enjoyed the process of putting these spreads together.

I’m continuing my tradition of including a couple of favourite photos of my niece and nephew on my title page! I didn’t have a lot of other things or stories to include on this page, though, so I made a couple of filler cards with washi tape and stickers from a Maggie Holmes sticker book.

We started off the month with a long weekend in Melbourne, so the next couple of spreads are all about that trip!

I recently bought a Fiskars Lia Griffith 1.5 inch circle punch, and I punched a little too close to the edge when I was testing it out – but I decided to roll with it and include it as an embellishment anyway!

One of our favourite things about Melbourne is the food culture, so this page celebrates all the tasty things we ate on one of the days during the trip!

This page was all about the celebration of my husband’s grandparents’ diamond wedding anniversary – 60 years married! I used silver elements and jewel icons to echo that ‘diamond’ theme, and included the invitation as a 4×6 card.

I love including bits of ephemera in my pages, so this page features a tag from a little dinosaur toy we bought, and the business card of the restaurant we ate at with my cousin. I also relied on one of my favourite little techniques – using enamel dots as the bullets in a list!

We had a few lovely nights in with friends this month, which I documented in this page. Since there was so much going on in the photos, I went for simplicity and consistency with the journal cards – some patterned paper, grid cards cut to size, and a bit of washi tape for a pop of colour.

This page was all about various work stories – and also a bit of an exercise in stepping outside my design comfort zone with a lot of green! Green isn’t a colour that I reach for automatically when I’m crafting, so I pushed myself a bit to flick through the cards in my stash and pull out the ones I would normally avoid!

I did a lot of shopping in June! First there was the Finders Keeper market, and then there was a lot of internet shopping (so many sales!) and the Lifeline bookfest. Pretty much everything was from local makers and Australian-owned stores and things that I really, really loved, so I decided to document it all in this spread! I included shop and product tags all throughout this spread – I love that some of the store cards fit so perfectly in the 4×6 pockets!

We had a few lovely get-togethers with family and our best friends, which I documented in this spread with plenty of colour and sparkle!

I recently started coming over to my brother’s place about once a week to take their dog Roscoe for a walk – both in an effort to help out his family, and also to satisfy my cluckiness for dogs! We can’t have pets in our apartments, so I’m just trying to spend as much time as possible with my nephew-dog. That became the main story for this page, and I pulled the colour scheme for the journal cards from the photos of Roscoe.

This page is all about the fun we had with Maddy one afternoon and with our best friends one evening, so I made it bright and bold and colourful! I balanced it out with more plain cards for the journalling, accented with just a bit of fun washi tape. It’s a busy page, but I like the story that it tells!

I had some extra photos of my niece and nephew, and a whole extra page to fill, so I threw them into the pockets with some pretty patterned paper and a fun journal card. I love how this page looks, despite its simplicity!

And that’s it for June! I hope you enjoyed this look into my 2019 Project Life album – stay tuned next month for the July spreads!
