This is one of those times when I had an idea for a layout, and it all just came together without a lot of thought or planning! I had a picture of what I wanted to do in my head before I started, and I’m so pleased that I was able to execute pretty much exactly what I imagined!
I was thinking about the diagonal lines of this layout, and wanted to do something similar, using a rainbow of washi tape for the main triangle and a sprinkle of sequins for the smaller one. The title ‘step by step’ was an easy choice, given the photo. After that, it was just a matter of picking out the right supplies!
I used MT washi tape in the standard width, but cut each piece lengthwise to make skinnier strips. All of the colours came from a 10-pack I bought when we were in Japan a couple of years ago – I love the pastel rainbow they make!
I mixed and matched sequins from a couple of old Studio Calico kits to get the colours I needed. Once I had the rainbows set down on both sides of the layout, I went through my sticker stash to find a few little bits and pieces to finish everything off. This whole layout came together in about half an hour – so quick and easy!
I love how colourful and bright this page is, without being too busy or even using any patterned paper. It showed me that I can make a big impact with a layout just from using embellishments! I will definitely be experimenting more with this in the future!
