Project Life – May 2019

It’s Project Life time again! May was my birthday month, and for the past couple of years I’ve done a kind of ‘Week in the Life’ project for the week of my birthday – which meant there were a lot more stories and photos to fit into this month’s pages!

I made a flip-up card with washi tape to fit in my ‘Here and Now’ list for this month on the title page! Actually, all of the cards on this page were made very simply by cutting down cardstock and adding some patterned washi. This is one of my favourite techniques for making journal cards, because it’s so fast and easy!

I included all my birthday cards as an insert inside an envelope from my stash, then added a birthday-themed journal card to embellish, using stamps for the title and dates.

I love these day of the week die-cuts that came in an old Studio Calico kit! They were perfect for adding in my week-in-the-life stories. And yes, I skip right from Friday to Sunday on this spread… but that’s because the next spread was all about Saturday 11 May, my birthday!

I spent my birthday with my husband and two of our best friends, and it was such a wonderful day that I figured it deserved its own spread! Again, there’s not a lot of embellishment going on here – just some washi tape and a few acrylic and rubber accents. I love all the bright, happy colours on my birthday pages!

This page is about as simple as it gets – just photos, a couple of journal cards, and some words. No embellishment needed!

I enjoy writing lists as a way of recording quick details or recapping events. Using number stickers to label the photos was an easy way to make it easy to understand what was going on in this page, and to bring them all together with a unified embellishment.

This page was all about things that happened at work. Sometimes my Project Life pages tend to focus on things that happen on weekends (and it’s always easier to take photos of those kinds of events!), so I’m trying to be a little better about including some of my work stories in my pages this year. I spend the majority of my waking hours at work, so I might as well record some of those memories!

We actually don’t go to the movies very often, but we saw 3 movies in May – a very unusual month! I included brief reviews of each one on this page, and I love how the movie posters ended up being pretty similar colour-wise!

My last page for May features some of the fun things I bought online that arrived during the month, all from amazing independent creators and artists! I screenshot my Instagram stories and printed them to show the actual objects that I received, and included the little business cards that came with my orders as ephemera. Getting packages in the mail is one of those little everyday things that make me really happy, so it was fun to capture that feeling in my Project Life album this month!

And that’s it for May! I hope you enjoyed this peek into my 2019 album – see you next month for my June pages!
