It’s time to share my May pages from my 2018 Project Life album! My birthday is in May, so a lot of this month’s pages are about my ‘birthday week’ and the various things we did to celebrate!
This month I had a lot of fun breaking out my new Life Love Paper stamp set from Studio Calico, which I used for the left journal card with Color Theory ink in Power Suit. The quote cards are actually little cards that came with purchases from Innosense and Kikki.K – love incorporating ‘found’ items in my spreads!
My brother sent me these four pictures, which I just love! I spent a pretty long time deliberating on whether to add any embellishments, but in the end I decided to keep things super simple, to highlight the photos.
This page is the start of my ‘birthday week’ spreads! The rubber words are from a past Studio Calico kit. For the journal cards, I a title space with a white Pilot Juice Paint pen, then stamped the titles using my new stamp set. I made a mistake with my journalling on the top left card, so I just covered it up with a couple of layers of similar-coloured washi tape. I’m just embracing the imperfection!
This spread is all about my actual birthday! The left page features all the food I ate, and the right page is just about what I got up to on the day, with a couple of lift selfies for good measure. I love how bright and happy this spread is – especially with all those yellow accents, my favourite colour!
The last of my birthday week spreads, these pages are all about the fun things we did on the weekend. I went with neutral gray tones across the centre row, and brighter, warm colours on the top and bottom rows to match with the colourful photos. I’d been hoarding that chicken journal card for ages, not knowing what to do with it… but it was perfect to tell the story of the Eurovision party we went to!
For this spread, I went with a green-based colour palette (pretty unusual for me!) and a lot of gold foil accents – phrase washi tape and foil-accented journal cards from Studio Calico, my favourite gold foil washi tape, and gold foil letter stickers from Kikki.K.
And that’s it for May! This month’s pages came together surprisingly quickly – I think it helped a lot that most of the photos pointed to clear colour choices, which made it easier to pick out journal cards and embellishments. I had a lot of fun working on these spreads, and I’m looking forward to next month!
