Project Life 2018 – February pages

Today I’m sharing my February pages from my 2018 Project Life album! There were a lot of fun events in February, including my niece’s 2nd birthday, Chinese New Year, and our friends’ wedding, so it was a lot of fun to put these pages together and relive those memories.

I used an old 4×6 card from the February 2015 or 2016 Studio Calico kit as my ‘title’ card for the month. The obviously not current year was written in the centre of the ‘b’ in February, so I covered it up with a wooden circle, and continued the circle motif through a couple of other cards on this page (the enamel dots and the peach 3×4 card). That peach 3×4 card originally said “Where I stand”, but I just covered it up with a chipboard sticker to work with the stories I wanted to tell on this page.

Scrapbook layout – magical moments

Today I’m sharing another traditional layout, which I based off this sketch from the Studio Calico blog!

I really like the simplicity of this layout – the grid format is easy to put together, and the embellishments are fairly minimal. The original layout which inspired the sketch featured a hand-drawn border, which I emulated by hand-drawing a full grid around the photos. I like how the imperfection of the lines adds a sort of whimsical feel to an otherwise straightforward layout.

Supplies used:

  • ‘Love this’ stamp, patterned and plain papers from past Studio Calico kits
  • Die cut washi tape from Studio Calico
  • Wood veneer ampersand from Studio Calico
  • Chipboard phrase sticker from Ali Edwards ‘Magic’ story kit
  • Color Theory ink in ‘Coral Bay’, from Studio Calico

Working on this layout taught me that I don’t need to cover a page with layering and embellishments to make it look good – sometimes keeping things simple is the most effective technique!

Japan 2017 trip highlights – resources

It feels like everyone I know has visited Japan or is planning a trip to Japan in 2018! Not that I can blame them – Dannii and I holidayed in Japan in September last year (his second time, my first time), and I loved it!
