Wedding Wednesday

Dannii and I spent last weekend in Maleny to have a bit of a break as well as celebrate six months of marriage. It got us reminiscing about our wedding day, and I realised that there are a bunch of little moments and details about our wedding that I never really recorded anywhere (on the Internet or otherwise). So I’m going to share a couple of little snippets from our wedding each month as a way of storing all those little happy memories!

all the little happy things - Wedding Wednesday - D&M

This is one of my favourite photos from our wedding party shoot! We took these photos in the Botanic Gardens in the city. I remember our photographers Thomas and Lily (Lily & Thom) directing our bridesmaids and groomsmen on how to hold the letters, and I had no idea what was going on, so I just stood still and kept smiling. Good thing, too, because the photo turned out great!

Five… fun music videos

Hi there!

Since this blog is intended to be my ‘happy place’ on the Internet, I thought I’d kick things off with a list: five fun music videos!

1. Odds Are – Barenaked Ladies

I love this music video for a bunch of reasons: the song itself is happy and fun and catchy, the whole concept for the video is pretty funny, there are dinosaurs!, and there are plenty of cameos by people from RoosterTeeth!

Plus, any mention of the Barenaked Ladies reminds me of this hilarious scene from Community, which is one of my very favourite shows (more on my love of Community another time!):

2. Blow Away – A Fine Frenzy

Another bright and happy song, a sweet yet refreshingly non-romantic storyline, and the lovely Alison Sudol aka A Fine Frenzy – what more could you want?

3. Maroon 5 Medley – Max Schneider and Victoria Justice

This video is just really creative! The medley is well written and produced (as all of Kurt’s stuff tends to be), and the idea of a live, one-take lyric video is clever and really nicely executed!

4. Need Your Love – The Temper Trap

This homage to The Karate Kid (the original, not the remake!) just makes me super happy! I love a good training montage, haha.

5. Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’ – Hanson

I love the video for Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’ for its use of pastiche as well, this time of the Shake a Tail Feather scene from The Blues Brothers. It fits the song brilliantly! Plus, there’s a cameo from Weird Al Yankovic!

So there you have it – five of my favourite fun music videos. It’s hard to feel down when I’m watching one of these!
